December 25, 2017Educational Travel is a carefully planned combination of tours, site visits, and hands-on learning opportunities, built around clear learning objectives which allow students to actually see and enrich themselves with the industrial exposure. Our B. Pharmacy students were fortunate enough to get an opportunity to visit PANACEA BIOTECH PVT. LTD, Baddi, Himachal Pradesh during 69th IPC held at Chandigarh, the credit of which goes to the endeavor made by our honorable Principal Dr. Roop K. Khar and Head of the Department Dr. Shiv Kumar Yadav. Panacea Biotec is India’s highly progressive, Innovative health management company based on Research & Development, Manufacturing, and marketing of Pharmaceuticals, Biopharmaceuticals, Vaccines and natural/indigenous products. Panacea Drugs Pvt. Ltd. was set up in the year 1984, with a commitment to make novel and innovative medicines affordable to the masses a dream of healthy India, and got listed in 1995 as Panacea Biotec Ltd.
We along with our students took the leverage of the opportunity and went there on 22nd Dec 2017. We were all warmly welcomed by the Panacea Biotech team. Our students were eager to see what manufacturing unit is and how it is designed? The visit started with the presentation by a team member about company’s growth and status. The students visited different department and sections of manufacturing industry like changing room, aseptic area, raw material storage unit, manufacturing unit (Fluidized bed dryer, granulators, Tablet punching machine, laminar air flow, autoclave for sterilization), QC, QA, Packaging unit & product storage unit etc. The students were demonstrated about the manufacturing process for solid dosage forms and vaccines. The students were informed about the regulatory specification followed by the company for manufacturing and were allowed to closely observe the online production of various products. The various large-scale manufacturing equipment and its applications were also keenly observed by our students. This made our students to correlate their theory with practical application in the pharmaceutical manufacturing field. The officials at Panacea Biotech were also impressed with a curiosity of our students to learn the subject. The students were escorted by our young faculty members Mr. Saurabh Shekhar and Ms. Ritu Malik who guided and explained them about the processing of pharmaceutical products at various stages of a visit to the pharmaceutical plant. Our purpose was accomplished as the tour was planned to give the students a chance to learn and correlate their theoretical aspects with that of the industrial implications. Students felt enriched after visiting a pharmaceutical manufacturing plant as this industrial exposure will help them to plan a better future and come up with shining colors.
